ANZAC DAY - presented by Year 5
Learned that Anzac Day is about the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps [The Anzacs], who in 1914 selflessly fought in Gallipoli to claim Istanbul, which is the capital of the Ottoman Empire. However the Turkish Army were ready to defend, the Anzacs knew winning was absolutely impossible but they still fought and died because they thought that their beloved countries were worth fighting for. There is an Ode of Remembrance to remember the soldiers who sacrificed their lives. This is the Ode of remembrance:
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget
ANZAC day is a special day to remember
the Anzacs fought for our safety over 102 years ago.
ANZAC stands for Australia New Zealand army corps.
They made a hard decision and that decision changed humanity
There actually kind of my hero’s.
