GIRLS CRICKET DEVELOPMENT YEAR 6 THURSDAY 19th MAY Spikes Bridge Park
Once we arrived at the field at Spikes Bridge park, we instantly were shocked by our competitors' skills. However, this did not affect us as the team lifted each other up. We practiced before the match to get warmed up. We got turns being the bowler and the batter. Our helpful teachers, Mr Coakley and Mr Dowden, picked out our strongest parts and gave us roles. Our first match was tough but we did our best. We did unfortunately lose though. Match after match, we gradually got better. Our second match was against Clifton. They had a very strong bowler and she had the best catch. This didn’t put our team off though. We didn’t go through to the quarter-finals. We believe that we learnt from our mistakes and we played some friendly matches with other schools. One school was Lady Margaret School and we won by a lot. Our last friendly match was between us and girls who have very strong batting skills. However, we got a lot of 4s. I am very proud of myself and my team for their hard work.
The girls performed brilliantly at the tournament and improved in every match as they listened to their feedback and fixed their mistakes. Also, after a lot of practice in their PE lessons their bowling was amazing and they did the school proud.
