Year 3 Roman Workshop
Year 3 had a workshop on Romans presented by a lovely man on Wednesday, which was enjoyable for both the pupils and staff. He provided an experience in which the kids could be totally immersed in the Roman culture and way of living. Using clothes, props, and objects such as coins and weapons, from Roman times, the children were fascinated and excited to learn about so many different aspects of Roman life. He displayed a fantastic model replica of a typical Roman town layout, including communal baths and kitchens. They were encouraged to dress up in different roman costumes such as tunics and togas, and even played games that Romans used to play, including gladiator role-play. The maps of the Roman Empire and their conquests were also shown.
In the end, they were encouraged to ask questions and they were enthusiastic and all participated.
