A good pack lunch benefits your child by giving them energy to remain alert during class time. An unhealthy pack lunch can lead to lethargy and sleepiness which can affect your child’s learning. Research has proved that hungry children become distracted in class, so it is very important that the correct portions are placed in your child’s lunch bag or box.
A balanced packed lunch should contain:
•Starchy foods. These are bread, rice, potatoes and pasta, and others.
•Protein foods. These are meat, fish, eggs, beans and others.
•A dairy item. This could be cheese or yoghurt.
•Vegetables or salad, and a portion of fruit.
Below are leaflets with ideas of what a good pack lunch should contain.
