🌿 November is Cut Your Carbon Month! 🌍♻️

This November, our school is joining Eco-Schools UK in taking action to tackle carbon emissions — one small step at a time! 🌱

Eco-Schools is challenging young people and their families to complete six simple, planet-friendly actions throughout the month to help reduce their carbon footprint. 🙌

At the end of November, we’ll count how many families joined in, calculate the total carbon saved, and celebrate everyone’s amazing efforts in assembly! 🎉💚

📌 Stick this checklist on your fridge — and start cutting carbon today!

1️⃣ Make three evening meals plant-based 🥦
Meat production is responsible for around 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Try making three evening meals plant-based this month and discover how delicious sustainable eating can be! 😋

2️⃣ Make any three journeys ‘active’ 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🛴
Transport makes up nearly a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions. Walk, scoot, cycle, or wheel instead of driving — every small step helps! 👣

3️⃣ Have a device-free day 🔌📵
Electricity use accounts for about 25% of your home’s carbon footprint. Power down non-essential devices for one day — no gaming, no streaming — and rediscover the joy of offline fun! 🎲📚

4️⃣ Meal plan to reduce food waste for one week 🍽️
The average person wastes 95kg of food per year! Plan your meals, shop smart, and waste less — it’s good for the planet and your wallet! 💰🌍

5️⃣ Lower your washing machine temperature to 30°C for three washes 🧺
Washing machines use lots of energy — so try three cool washes this month! You’ll save energy without sacrificing clean clothes. 💧❄️

6️⃣ Turn down the heating by 1°C for a week 🧤
Heating is the biggest source of carbon emissions in UK homes. Turn it down slightly, pop on a cosy jumper, and show your love for the planet! ❤️🧣

Let’s all do our bit to make November a month of climate action, community spirit, and positive change! 🌿✨
